Responsibilities

  • Prepares the press by mixing and filling fountain solutions, loading and setting the feeder, hanging plates and setting sheet detection and make ready for next job
  • Ensures quality and color of printed sheets meet customer job specifications including responsibility for final press sheet color okay prior to final production run
  • Continually monitors and corrects any quality problems that may occur during the press run to minimize downtime and waste
  • Performs routine quality checks for any printing imperfections during each run
  • Maintains an accurate record of all completed work in shop floor data system and/or manual forms as required
  • Completes required audit paperwork based on job stage
  • Complies with ISO 9001:2000 certification for all areas of responsibility
  • Ensures completed product is staged in next work area with appropriate job ticket information attached
  • Keeps materials, supplies, product carts and any other supplies needed stocked in department and notifies Print Manager of any inventory order needs
  • Maintains acceptable productivity, quality, service, spoilage, security and safety goals
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area
  • Follows all company procedures and rules
  • Fulfills all mandated security procedures and processes required by industry certifications
  • Conducts self in a respectful and professional manner with a focus on teamwork, quality and timeliness at all times

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent with minimum 5 years of experience using multi-color offset lithograph printing press with an automated console including ability to lay down uniform solids, screen tints, halftones and familiarity with printing ink and fountain solutions
  • Advanced ability to operate densitometer and hand-held specto-photometer and the ability to interpret the information using these tools to ensure accurate color
  • Solid detail and decision making skills in order to setup equipment, check product quality and make adjustments to meet customer deadlines and requirements
  • Solid mechanical aptitude with ability to select and use appropriate equipment, supplies and tools and be able to install and set pressures on new rollers
  • Solid math skills to be able to compute percentages, weights and measures
  • Ability to follow/interpret complex written and oral instructions and specifications
  • Must be security and safety oriented
  • Must be reliable through good attendance, punctuality and cooperation
  • Ability to import-export PDF’s using a PC
  • Keen attention to detail including distinguishing color
  • Proficient communication skills including reading the writing and speaking English
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to stand for long periods of time

Physical Requirements

  • Standing position and requires walking, bending, stooping, pulling, climbing and lifting of materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Noisy environment may require ear protection
  • Good eyesight, hand/eye coordination and excellent color vision to be able to ensure quality product and maintain safety
  • Full use of hands/fingers in order to use precision or semi-precision equipment, tools or instruments requiring deft hand movements
  • Dealing with fine detail, which can be tiring both mentally and physically
  • May require quick adjustments to minimize waste
  • Shifts and may require overtime on other shifts to meet deadlines
