Job Summary

This position will assist the Pressman in processes regarding make-ready, operations, and maintenance of the printing press, ensuring efficiency, safety, and accuracy.

Job Functions

  • Aid the 1st Pressman in making necessary color or register corrections and press adjustments before production runs.
  • Operate the press in the absence of the 1st Pressman and perform all duties of a 1st Pressman.
  • Read and follow job specifications to determine press set-up materials needed.
  • Adjust press machine parts such as feeder and delivery mechanisms, suction grippers, guides, feed wheels, jogging devices, tapes, and cams using hand tools.
  • Assist in removing and replacing worn rollers and adjusting roller pressure.
  • Clean ink and ink distributing rollers and ink fountains using ink solvent and cleaning mechanism.
  • Perform press maintenance tasks.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Background / Experience

  • Mechanical or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience operating hand jacks, electric pallet jacks, and forklifts preferred.

Skills

  • Language skills: Read and interpret documents, write routine reports, speak effectively, bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Add, subtract, multiply, and divide, compute rates, ratios, and percentages, draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning ability: Solve practical problems, interpret instructions, interpret data, solve mathematical problems.
  • Mechanical: Adjust press machine parts, replace worn rollers, clean ink and ink distributing rollers and ink fountains.
  • Education / Knowledge: High School Diploma or GED, one year of professional working experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Essential Job Functions

  • SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: Shifts can be up to 12 hours per day, Monday through Sunday, including early mornings, nights, and weekends. Must be able to work alternate schedules and overtime.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Standing and walking frequently (34-66%), awkward and repetitive movements, bending, stooping, squatting, climbing, reaching, twisting, stretching, carrying up to 28 lbs., kneeling, grasping, fingering, pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs. for 200 feet occasionally.
  • Requires use of both feet and hands for continuous tasks.
  • Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Safe Quality Food Responsibilities

  • Follow Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
  • Report potentially unsafe conditions to a person of authority.
  • Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions.
  • Report any unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority.
