Seasonal Spotter - Solid Waste

Seasonal position at a transfer station blending outdoor work, customer interaction, and essential operations.

Pay

$19.00 per hour

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with unloading waste and answering questions.
• Direct traffic and guide vehicles to proper disposal areas.
• Inspect incoming loads to ensure compliance with regulations, keeping sites clean, safe, and hazard-free.
• Open and close facilities and secure sites.
• Monitor for fire and safety risks and respond when needed.
• Perform general maintenance (clean-up, snow removal, debris clearing).
• Operate heavy equipment like forklifts (at transfer stations).
• Lead and direct community service or labor crews.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 1 year related work experience.
• Possess or have the ability to obtain a Driver’s License; must be insurable and bondable.
• Reliable personal transportation to commute to designated work sites.
• Exceptional customer service skills and experience working with the public.
• Experience maintaining grounds and facilities.
• Experience collecting fees and using a cash register.
• Willingness to assist customers with unloading items from vehicles and respond to public issues and inquiries.
• Experience with light power equipment such as weed trimmers, sprayers, fire extinguishers, power hand tools, and chainsaws.
• Experience operating and maintaining specialized equipment, including forklifts, or willingness to learn.
• Ability to work some weekends.
• Enjoy working in outdoor facilities.
