About the role
CHS Ag Services in Warren, MN is looking for a Seasonal Soil Sampler for Fall Harvest. In this role, you'll work alongside managers and customers to collect soil samples from fields. The duration of this role is from now until freeze-up, with flexible scheduling. The ideal candidate will have a driver’s license and be available throughout the season.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain knowledge of commodities handled at the location and comply with company policy and government regulations.
- Work with customers in a courteous and professional manner.
- Prepare trucks and railcars for loading/unloading, including sampling, loosening large nuts, opening hatches, and attaching/detaching flexible hoses.
- Load and unload agricultural inputs from railcars and/or trucks using heavy or light-duty machinery/equipment (bulk or packaged material).
- Control and monitor all load-out functions.
- Operate automated scale/dump systems.
- Conduct and record daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks (e.g., lubrication of pumps, valves, loading arms; inspecting equipment for leaks).
- Monitor and maintain inventory quality (blended, bulk, or packaged product).
- Deliver products such as fertilizer, chemical, seed, and feed to customer sites.
- Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work areas; perform housekeeping duties (sweeping, shoveling, power washing, cleaning spills).
- Complete record-keeping tasks.
- Perform grounds maintenance, including snow removal.
- Conduct warehouse work (driving loaders, loading/unloading inventory, forklift operation, general maintenance).
- Report customer complaints, repair/maintenance needs, or safety concerns to supervisors.
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture; follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Identify and communicate workplace hazards; correct or seek assistance for unsafe conditions.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as needed to ensure smooth facility operations and excellent customer service.
Requirements
- Must meet minimum age requirement.
- 1+ years of experience in Operations and/or Business Operations.
- Ability to operate machinery such as loaders, conveyors, tractors, and track mobile.
- Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons.
Qualifications (Preferred)
- High School diploma or GED.
- CDL license or ability to attain one with Hazmat endorsement.
- Agriculture experience.
- Forklift certification.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 75 pounds.
- Ability to climb rail cars, ladders, stairs, and bins.
- Ability to work in dust and adverse weather conditions/temperatures.
