Seasonal Operations Associate I - Seed Packing

Johnny's Selected Seeds is a 100% employee-owned company established in 1973, dedicated to helping families, friends, and communities feed one another by providing superior seeds, tools, information, and service. We serve direct-market growers and home gardeners with outstanding varieties of vegetables, cut flowers, herbs, and farm seed, along with thoughtfully designed tools and equipment.

About the role

This seasonal position primarily works in the Seed Packing department with potential cross-training in the Shipping/Warehouse department as business needs arise. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, repetitive process environment.

Schedule

Weekday Shift: Monday through Friday, 5:50 am to 2:20 pm. Overtime will be required during peak periods.

Pay

Starting pay is $17.51 per hour.

Responsibilities

Seed Packing functions

• Pack seed into commercial and consumer sizes using hand or mechanical means.
• Follow detailed instructions in a repetitive process environment.
• Perform basic computer tasks and convert ounces/pounds to grams.
• Assemble kits and products, and process bulk seed orders weighing 50–70 pounds.

Shipping and Warehouse functions

• Locate incoming materials in stockrooms and retrieve materials using inventory systems.
• Rearrange materials, shrink-wrap, and label items.
• Assist with sampling, labeling, or receiving materials.
• Support cycle counters with locating and weighing inventory.
• Report problems or shortages to supervisors or leads.
• Support daily order shipments by gathering, checking, packing, shipping, and stocking.
• Use handheld units for accurate inventory picking and tracking.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workspace.
