About the role

The Cook performs a variety of commercial kitchen duties, including setting up workstations, prepping food, cooking, cleaning, and stocking at assigned stations. Cooks prepare food to exact recipe specifications under the supervision of the chef or sous chef, supporting food preparation, cooking, plating, and maintaining a clean work environment as part of a culinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Line Cook duties: set up workstation, prep food, cook, clean, stock, and prepare food to the exact specifications of the Chef.
  • Clean station and assist with kitchen cleanup, including disposing of garbage, cleaning utensils, pots, pans, and cooking surfaces.
  • Assist in operating the dish machine when necessary.
  • Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, and measuring according to recipes and menu requirements.
  • Assist with overall food preparation, including peeling, cutting, marinating, and seasoning.
  • Plate and garnish dishes to enhance visual appeal, ensuring proper portioning, arrangement, and garnishes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace, adhering to hygiene and sanitation standards.
  • Manage cooking times efficiently to ensure timely delivery of orders and coordinate with kitchen staff for smooth workflow.
  • Monitor the quality and freshness of ingredients, taking proactive measures to maintain food consistency.
  • Assist in monitoring and replenishing kitchen supplies, ingredients, and inventory; notify appropriate personnel when supplies need ordering.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team, including chefs, sous chefs, and kitchen staff, to ensure effective communication and teamwork.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of experience in Kitchen Management, Cooking, or a related field.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and/or commensurate experience.

Pay

Pay range is $15–20 per hour, dependent on experience, skill, and assigned outlet.
