What You'll Do
- Direct inbound scrap trucks to the individual bays within the scrap yard
- Cookordinate truck unloading (and occasional re-loading) with vendor scrap handling operations
- Inspect the quality of the scrap received in the yard by truck and by rail
- Ensure that rail cars are unloaded properly and in the correct locations
- Work with other operators, technicians, and supervisory staff to assist with problems and to keep an effective work environment
- Remove non-conforming materials from the scrap bays
- Respond to radiation alarms, truck and rail
- Perform daily test of radiation detection systems
- Inspect inbound and outbound rail cars
- Perform inventory counts of scrap, alloys, and other supplies
- Aid in the movement of raw materials around Melt Shop
- Communicate and ensure scrap recipe integrity
- Cookordinate rail road switching
- Operate mobile equipment to aid in raw materials handling and housekeeping
- Enforce yard safety policies
What You'll Need
- Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with excellent strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
- Basic computer skills
- Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
- Must be able to learn quickly and multitask
- Some overtime will be required
- Work on a rotating shift which may include weekends and holidays
- Ability to work overtime as required, including planned schedules and unplanned emergency situations
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds, climb ladders and stairs, and stand for extended periods of time
- Demonstrated dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
Your Education
- A High School Diploma or GED is required
