Scientist I/II, Antibody Therapeutics
About the role
We are looking for a highly motivated and innovative scientist to join our biologics discovery group at GondolaBio. The selected candidate will work within a fast-paced, interactive, and innovative research team to assist in the development of novel antibodies. This role will require a highly cross-functional skillset, including cell biology, immunology, and protein engineering.
Responsibilities
- Design and perform studies critical for antibody discovery and validation, including binding assays (e.g., ELISA, flow cytometry, BLI), and functional cell-based assays, including immunological assays, internalization and cellular trafficking assays.
- Support translational studies that further elucidate the mechanism and biology for drug candidates, including potential biomarker development, in vivo model selection and efficacy evaluation.
- Identify and manage CROs to complement internal efforts.
- Analyze experimental data and present findings to the team.
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records, including experimental procedures, results, and conclusions.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and scientific publications.
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to the design and planning of experiments.
- Communicate effectively with team members and external collaborators.
- Contribute to due diligence and gap analysis on potential new GondolaBio assets.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Immunology or related discipline with 2+ years hands-on industry experience. M.S. and B.S. candidates with equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Experience with antibody screening and developability assays (e.g., ELISA, flow cytometry, BLI, developability assessments).
- Strong hands-on experience with setting up, and optimizing in vitro cell-based assays, including immunological assays (e.g., ADCP, ADCC, CDC), and cellular trafficking (e.g. confocal microscopy).
- Experience in designing and executing in vivo studies for efficacy and PK/PD evaluation of biologics.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and teamwork.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong scientific background and achievements in bioscience and translational medicine, ideally demonstrated by scientific publications, presentations, and/or patents.
- Proven track record of successfully working in research programs.
- Strong understanding of drug discovery and development processes.
- Excellent communication (written & verbal) and organizational skills.
- Ability to think strategically and execute experiments effectively.
- Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Demonstrate creative 'out of the box' thinking to solve complex technical problems and champion innovative technologies to achieve project goals.
- Commitment, drive, and ownership mindset.
