Job Summary

The classroom teacher under the direction of the school principal is responsible for creating a positive learning environment where students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and lifelong learning skills. Responsibilities include establishing rapport with students, parents, and colleagues, motivating students, differentiating curriculum, utilizing effective teaching techniques, supervising students, evaluating students' academic and social growth, and communicating with parents and other professionals.

About the Role

Bennion Junior High School seeks a 7th and 8th Grade Science (6-8) Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate must meet one of the following licensure requirements: hold a Utah Professional Secondary teaching license; have an out-of-state Professional Secondary license; or have a current Associate Secondary Educator License (AEL).

Responsibilities

  • Create lesson plans and instructional materials.
  • Adapt curriculum to meet student needs.
  • Use technology in student instruction.
  • Supervise students indoors and outdoors.
  • Evaluate students' academic and social growth.
  • Communicate with parents and colleagues.
  • Implement Proficiency-Based Learning.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Administer standardized tests.
  • Select and requisition books and materials.
  • Model professional and ethical standards.

Requirements

  • Utah Professional Secondary teaching license.
  • Out-of-state Professional Secondary license.
  • Current Associate Secondary Educator License (AEL).
  • Official teaching license and degree upon hire.
  • Science (6-8) endorsement during the first year of employment if not already obtained.
  • Elementary license with Science (6-8) endorsement or Associate Endorsement.
  • ESL endorsement preferred.
  • Willingness to assist with extracurricular activities.
