Job Summary
The classroom teacher is responsible for creating a positive learning environment where students develop the skills to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, lifelong learners and productive citizens. Teachers maintain a safe environment; establish rapport with students, parents and colleagues; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further education and do so in accordance with each student's ability.
About the Role
Plymouth Elementary School is seeking a 5th Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate must meet one of the following licensure requirements: a Utah Professional Elementary teaching license or an out-of-state Professional Elementary license. Applicants must upload a copy of their current state license with their application.
Responsibilities
- Create lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the child.
- Utilize effective teaching techniques in translating lesson plans into productive student learning experiences which best utilize the time available for instruction.
- Utilize computers and other technological classroom support equipment in student instruction.
- Supervise students requiring both indoor and outdoor responsibilities (e.g. recess duty, gymnasium activities, etc.) in all types of weather and air quality.
- Evaluate students' academic and social growth, maintain appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
- Be familiar with and willing to implement Proficiency-Based Learning in evaluating students.
- Communicate with parents through conferences, telephone calls, e-mails, student planners, school website, and other appropriate means, to discuss the student's progress.
- Communicate and cooperate with other professional staff regarding the student's academic and personal growth areas.
- Create an effective learning environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.
- Maintain an effective working relationship with students, parents, school staff, district staff, and members of the community.
- Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, colleagues, and members of the community.

Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Requires a valid Professional Educator License for the State of Utah within the relevant "Licensure Area of Concentration" and if applicable, "Endorsement."
