Requirements

• Valid state licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter

• Willing to obtain SC licensure

Responsibilities

• Interpret classroom instruction, discussion, and school activities using ASL

• Support students’ access to academic content, social interactions, and extracurricular activities

• Collaborate with school staff and families to support students’ educational participation, communication, and inclusion

• Aid in IEP meetings and ensure compliance with educational and communication standards

• Adapt interpretation to meet diverse student needs, including working with students with gestural communication or DeafPlus
