About the role

American Medical Staffing is seeking a School Services School American Sign Language interpreter for a local contract job in Saint Louis, Missouri. The position is a 13-week contract starting August 24, 2026, with 32 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities using ASL to facilitate student learning and participation
  • Support students' access to academic content, social interactions, and extracurricular activities
  • Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and families to promote communication, inclusion, and student success

Requirements

  • Valid state licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
  • Willingness to obtain MO licensure
  • 2 years of experience as a Sign Language Interpreter preferred but not mandatory
  • Bachelor’s degree in American Sign Language Interpreting or related field
  • Experience interpreting in school settings (Pre-K–12), including classroom and IEP participation
  • Ability to support students' communication needs using ASL and collaborate with school teams

Qualifications

  • Qualified applicants must have a valid state licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
  • Must be willing to obtain MO licensure
  • Preferred but not mandatory: 2 years of experience as a Sign Language Interpreter
  • Preferred but not mandatory: Bachelor’s degree in American Sign Language Interpreting or related field
  • Preferred but not mandatory: Experience interpreting in school settings (Pre-K–12), including classroom and IEP participation
  • Preferred but not mandatory: Ability to support students' communication needs using ASL and collaborate with school teams

  • Strong ASL skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Knowledge of educational settings and IEP processes

Schedule

Full-time or Part-time options; Hours per week to be discussed, with potential for after-school and evening shifts (Note: Flexible schedule including summer availability on Fridays)
