School Psychologist (Effective 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR)
About the role
Practice of psychology in an educational setting, including exceptional education students for the Tucson Unified School District.
Responsibilities
- Administer personality assessments
- Write instructional objectives
- Impart complex psychological data to others, parents, teachers, etc. in a meaningful way
- Evaluate physical and sensory impaired students
- Understand child development, learning disorders, behavioral management, and personality theory
- Work closely with teachers and parents to develop and implement interventions
- Conduct evaluations and provide recommendations for special education services
- Collaborate with other professionals to ensure comprehensive student support
Requirements
- Master's degree in psychology or related field
- Valid State of Arizona School Psychologist Certificate
- Knowledge of P.L. 94-242, Education of the disabled/handicapped, State Board of Education rules and regulations, and TUSD Exception Education placement guidelines
- Strong psychometric background including an understanding of both normative, criterion-based and informal evaluations
- Knowledge of the evaluation of the physically and sensory impaired students
- Ability to administer personality assessment
- Knowledge of child development, learning disorders, behavioral management and personality theory
- Sensitivity to cultural linguistic differences
- Knowledge of K-12 and Exceptional Education curricula
Qualifications
- Az IVP fingerprint clearance card
- Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization
- Valid Driver's license (Arizona Driver’s License required within 30 days of hire)
- MVReport – showing no more than the allowable points against Driver’s License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees
- Reliable mode of personal transportation with evidence of insurance compliance greater than or equal to the state required minimum for car insurance as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees
