SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD

Description The purpose of this classification is to ensure a safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians throughout school zones. Examples of Duties The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.Assist children and adults at school street crossings; Expedite the movement of children and traffic to and from the school.This position only works during the regular school calendar and while school is in session; Incumbent usually works 10-20 hours per week.Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED is required; Completion of the Henry County Police Training Division Traffic Direction Training (one day course). Knowledge, Skill, Abilities / Supplemental Information Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Basic law enforcement traffic direction skills; knowledge of hand and whistle signals; ability to deal courteously with the general public; Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all County or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
