School Crossing Guard

Responsibilities

• Hold up a hand-held "STOP" sign until all children are safely across the street.
• Report any unsafe observations, incidents or accidents involving students to school authorities.
• Record and report the license numbers of vehicles that disregard the Crossing Guard while in the crosswalk.
• Assist students that are lost, injured, or need assistance.
• Abide by all guidelines and regulations governing student crossing.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work effectively and be courteous with other employees and the public.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Ability to apply sound judgment.
• Knowledge of traffic control devices and traffic regulations pertaining to school and pedestrian crossings.
• Physical demands: stopping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions; ability to walk for an extended period primarily in an outside environment, including exposure to inclement weather conditions; Light Work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or the public is preferred.

Pay

• $13.73 per hour.

Schedule

• Four hours per day when school is in session.
