School Crossing Guard

Responsibilities

• Assists with traffic only where children/pedestrians are involved.
• Ensures all traffic is at a complete stop before children/pedestrians can enter the crosswalk or intersection.
• Enters the street before others to gain control of oncoming traffic by using a stop sign and whistle.
• Motions children/pedestrians to proceed into the crosswalk after control of the traffic is maintained.
• Engages and disengages flashing school zone lights.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to understand written and verbal directives.
• Able to effectively communicate instructions to the general public, including all ages.
• At least twenty-one (21) years of age at the time of application.
