School Age Program Aide - High Plains

About the role

Under direct supervision, Program Aides work as part of our site team to ensure a safe and challenging environment for school-age participants. Responsibilities include implementing our core values, leading gym and group games, and facilitating arts and crafts.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to program standards, including safety and cleanliness
• Attend staff meetings and trainings
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies
• Maintain positive relations with parents and other staff; model relationship-building skills in all interactions
• Maintain confidentiality of YMCA issues, incidents, and records
• Be on time for all shifts; be flexible to accommodate unexpected schedule changes, including full days
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum age: 16 years old
• Committed to being a positive role model for youth
• Ability to work well on a team and communicate easily with youth, parents, and colleagues
• Knowledge of age-appropriate practices and experience working with children, preferably school-aged
• Maturity to make practical decisions under direct supervision
• Bilingual preferred, but not required

Schedule

• Program hours: mornings (6:15 AM – 8:30 AM) and/or afternoons (3:00 PM – 6:00 PM), Monday through Friday
• Additional hours available on days when school is out for full-day camp
• Preference for staff available at least 3 consistent days per week; substitutes also needed
• Options to work before school, after school, or a combination of both
