Job Summary
Responsible for the direct supervision and interaction with children in a mutually positive and respectful manner. Work directly with Site Supervisor to maintain supervisory ratios and needed child involvement.
YWCA Responsibilities
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and in-service trainings.
- Must complete New York State mandated training hours.
Qualifications
- Understanding of, and the ability to implement, the regulations pertaining to a School Age Child Care Program as per NYSOCFS.
- Ability to work with a staff of diverse backgrounds and age groups.
- Ability to carry out projects while working with children of all ages and abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, children and administration.
- The ability to be flexible for all situations involved with the SACC program.
- Follow all established policies and procedures.
- Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, self-control and multi-tasking.
Physical Requirements
- In good physical condition, able to participate in games, sports and physical activities including water-based games and activities.
- Able to walk and stand for a long period of time.
- Able to maintain attention and high level of energy or excitement for extended periods of time.
- Able to lift 20lbs or more.
Job Responsibilities
- Assure all sites are in compliance with all NYSOCFS regulations and all YWCA of the Niagara Frontier policies.
- Work with Site Supervisor to insure adequate supervision.
- Assist Supervisory Staff in the performance of their activities.
- Supervise general conduct and activities of children.
- Actively engage children in activities and draw them into the group.
- Mediate children's disputes and provide a resource for those children needing intervention in dealing with each other.
- Assist with check in procedures, set up supplies for activities, give facility a once over prior to opening for any needed supplies.
- Clean eating areas after snack. Encourage children to be responsible for their own area an assist them with any package which may be difficult to open.
- Provide group supervision during fire drills
- Responsible for general "clean as you go" at all activities, closing cleanup of areas
- Follow all established policies and procedures.
- Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, self-control and multi-tasking.
- Other duties assigned as needed.
