School Age Program Aide - Boulder

About the role

The YMCA's Youth Programs are expanding, and we're seeking dedicated staff to support our school-aged participants. We're looking for individuals who enjoy engaging in fun activities like construction paper projects, science experiments, and arts and crafts, while also helping with homework and leading games.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe and engaging environment for school age participants
• Implement YMCA core values of respect, responsibility, honesty, and caring
• Teach gym and group games
• Support students with challenging homework
• Lead games such as tag
• Work collaboratively with parents and other staff members
• Maintain positive relationships with participants and colleagues
• Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness
• Attend staff meetings and trainings
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies
• Be on time for all shifts and flexible to accommodate schedule changes

Requirements

• A minimum of 16 years old
• Commitment to being a positive role model with youth
• Ability to work well on a team, communicate with youth, parents, and colleagues
• Experience working with children, preferably school-aged
• Maturity to make practical decisions under supervision
• Knowledge of age-appropriate practices
• Bilingual preferred but not required

Pay

$15.16 - $17.00 per hour

Schedule

Shifts are mornings 6:15am-8:30am and/or 3:00-6:00pm Monday through Friday, with additional hours available for full day camp. We prefer staff to be available at least 3 days per week, but we also look for substitutes.
