School Age Child Care Director (Management Aide)
About the Role
Anne Arundel County Government is seeking a Full-Time, Permanent, and Safety-Sensitive School Age Child Care Director (Management Aide) within the Department of Recreation and Parks. This role involves paraprofessional administrative support, including assisting management personnel and supervising lower-level office support employees. The position requires coordination with County, State, and Federal agencies, as well as non-profit and private sector organizations, to carry out program assignments collaboratively. Some interactions with the public may be necessary to provide direct assistance.
A key aspect of this role is applying knowledge of administrative areas, program functions, or regulations to perform a variety of support activities. The employee will independently plan and execute tasks, resolve issues in alignment with office policies, and adapt procedures to fit specific situations. The work is primarily office-based and sedentary, with no significant hazards.
Responsibilities
- Oversee varied group activities, including educational, cultural, health, recreational, and similar programs.
- Track and monitor the status of a client population to support program activities.
- Review the work of supervised lower-level office support employees or full-time equivalent positions.
- Compile, organize, reconcile, and analyze data from various sources to maintain reports or databases on program services and activities; prepare reports of limited complexity.
- Maintain statistics and databases related to program services, activities, or participants.
- Perform data entry and use office automation equipment and software to create records, documents, notices, reports, tables, and correspondence.
- Handle administrative tasks such as reviewing documentation for accuracy, preparing correspondence, and facilitating database applications.
- Respond to inquiries from the public and businesses regarding program-related regulations, procedures, and service requests.
- Serve as staff to established boards and committees, providing technical program support.
- Define and interpret regulations and requirements for applicants, other agencies, and the general public.
- Establish and maintain files and records in support of the program.
- Perform related duties as required.
Requirements
- Completion of an associate degree from an accredited college.
- Two or more years of experience as a licensed School Age Child Care Director.
Note: Completion of an associate degree may substitute for up to two additional years of experience as a licensed School Age Child Care Director, for a total of four or more years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- A minimum of two years' experience supervising employees.
- Intermediate-level or above experience in oral and written communication skills.
- Intermediate-level or above proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite.
- Qualifications equivalent to or exceeding those of a Center Director in the State of Maryland.
Skills
- Knowledge of the program area associated with the department/agency.
- Familiarity with County policies, supervisory principles, and office methods and procedures.
- Proficiency in operating computers, applicable software, and office automation equipment.
- Ability to gather and analyze data, compile reports, and maintain accurate filing systems.
- Ability to supervise office support staff and maintain effective working relationships.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact tactfully, effectively, and equitably with diverse individuals.
- Willingness to attend meetings or perform assignments outside the office as needed.
