About the role
Under the supervision of the School Age Site Coordinator, the Assistant Group Leader will assist in supervising the program and ensuring a safe, healthy, and constructive environment for all children involved in the program. The Assistant Group Leader will ensure that all areas of responsibilities reflect the mission and beliefs of the Old Colony Y, uphold the employee code of conduct, and align with the regulating agency's standards. The role involves displaying and encouraging character traits of caring, responsibility, honesty, and respect in all job duties.
Responsibilities
- Assist in supervising the program to maintain a safe, healthy, and constructive environment for children.
- Uphold the mission and values of the Old Colony Y in all job responsibilities.
- Encourage and model character traits such as caring, responsibility, honesty, and respect.
- Create and sustain a culture of excellence while working collaboratively as part of a team.
- Lift and move heavy equipment and perform cleaning duties as necessary.
- Work early mornings, late nights, and weekends as required.
- Engage in occasional public speaking responsibilities.
- Understand and apply Y-USA's three focus areas: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
- Identify and meet the needs of program participants.
Requirements
- Minimum of 16 years of age.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
- Evidence of a physical examination within the last 12 months.
- Negative Mantoux TB test and immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs occasionally and 40 lbs frequently (e.g., children).
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and move intermittently during work hours.
- Strong oral communication skills.
