About the role

Under the supervision of the School Age Site Coordinator, the Assistant Group Leader will assist in supervising the program and ensuring a safe, healthy, and constructive environment for all children involved. The role upholds the mission and beliefs of the Old Colony Y, adhering to the employee code of conduct and ensuring compliance with regulating agencies. The Assistant Group Leader will model and encourage the character traits of caring, responsibility, honesty, and respect.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in supervising the program to maintain a safe and constructive environment for children.
  • Uphold the mission and values of the Old Colony Y in all job responsibilities.
  • Display and encourage character traits such as caring, responsibility, honesty, and respect.
  • Create and sustain a culture of excellence while working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Lift and move heavy equipment and perform cleaning duties as necessary.
  • Engage in occasional public speaking and maintain strong oral communication skills.
  • Understand and apply Y-USA's three focus areas: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
  • Identify and meet the needs of program participants.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 16 years of age.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
  • Evidence of a physical examination within the last 12 months.
  • Negative Mantoux TB test and immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs occasionally and 40 lbs frequently (e.g., children).
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and move intermittently during work hours.

Schedule

Will sometimes require early morning, late night, and weekend work.
