School Age Group Leader

About the Role

As a member of the Center team, help develop and maintain a safe, nurturing, creative, fun, developmentally appropriate program. This is a forty-four-week school year position.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Center Director/Assistant Director to develop and implement program goals and objectives.
• Develop strong, positive relationships with each child.
• Work with the Center Director/Assistant Director to develop age-appropriate activities and implement both individual and group activities, special projects, and field trips.
• Work with the Center Director/Assistant Director to establish and maintain behavioral limits and classroom order.
• With guidance from the Center Director, communicate with parents about children’s daily needs, interests, progress, and concerns, referring parent concerns to the Center Director/Assistant Director.
• Assist with keeping the center clean and organized.
• Drive Center van to transport children, fulfilling responsibilities as outlined in the Stars Van Driver Responsibilities and Procedures if able to obtain 7D license.
• Assist with menu planning and food preparation and purchase.
• Assist with record keeping.
• Attend and participate in staff and team meetings and appropriate trainings.
• Develop and follow through with annual evaluation goals and training plan.
• Perform all other assigned tasks.

Requirements

• Meet DEEC qualifications for School Age Group Leader.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with children in a formal setting.
• Willingness and ability to obtain MA 7D Driving License.
• Willing to work a flexible schedule including full days during school vacations.
• Ability to set clear expectations and limits for children.
• High energy, warm, and nurturing personality.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Able to lift at least 40 lbs. and work in a non-sedentary environment.
