Scheduling Specialist II - Gastroenterology - Vintage

About the role

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated scheduler to schedule Gastroenterology procedures. The position involves patient education and navigation through the patient's journey, including prepping patients for procedures and scheduling within BCM and BSLMC EMR systems. The candidate will triage patients by collaborating with providers and the clinical team to determine if referrals should be scheduled as clinic visits or procedures.

Responsibilities

• Reviews incoming referrals and orders.
• Triages patients to determine appropriate scheduling for clinic visits or procedures.
• Schedules appointments and/or procedures in BCM and BSLMC EMR systems, ensuring every referred patient has a procedure date.
• Routes calls to the appropriate staff member and works closely with the referral center.
• Contacts patients to provide pre-procedure instructions and notifies them of date, time, and arrival details.
• Requests additional information from referring physicians if needed.
• Works closely with the endoscopy care coordination team to fill endoscopy block schedules.
• Manages the order work queue to select and schedule patients.
• Collaborates with physicians for any special patient instructions, including procedure locations and clearances.
• Performs cross-checks for procedural or scheduling conflicts to ensure accuracy.
• Verifies and confirms patient identification and information, including precautions and vital details on all documentation.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Procedure scheduling experience.
• Experience with Epic EMR system.
• Bilingual in Spanish.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, 8 hours daily. This position is based at the Vintage Campus.
