Responsibilities
- Obtains information (including physician orders to schedule tests/procedures only) from physician offices for scheduling tests, procedures and admissions in an accurate, timely and sequential manner.
- Facilitates in coordinating a plan of care for patients with various departments throughout the hospital and clinics including working with equipment vendors for surgical equipment needs.
- Collaborates with equipment vendors for surgical equipment needs.
- Coordinates care between facilities for utilization of telemedicine to ensure continuity of care if applicable.
- Communicates information to physicians, staff, families, etc., when directed and to do so in an appropriate and professional manner.
- Aids in the collection and maintenance of records as needed by Performance Improvement, Joint Commission accreditation, CARF certification, OSHA guidelines, or as may be required by law.
- Maintains physician calendar, procedure schedule and all coordinating orders for procedures.
Requirements
- The individual must be able to work the hours specified.
- Must have visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
Qualifications
- High School or GED Equivalent
- Associate's in medical secretarial school
- 1-3 years experience as a scheduler, biller, or in a medical office
Skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology
