Key Responsibilities
- Obtains complete registration information, including initial information for new patients and updated information for returning patients via telephone appointment scheduling process.
- Verifies patient insurance information and eligibility as determined by practice scheduling protocols.
- Receives and/or obtains authorizations, referrals and other pre-service approvals for scheduled patient appointments and procedures as determined by insurance carrier requirements and practice scheduling protocols.
- Schedules new and return patient appointments within physicians' scheduling guidelines and established practice protocols.
- Flags patient appointment cancellations, no-shows, and appointment refusals in the patient’s electronic chart according to established Practice protocols.
- Affords coverage for front desk receptionist staff as needed.
- Contacts patients by phone to schedule for return visits or diagnostic tests as directed.
- Obtains needed medical records for new patients and consults for upcoming appointments to be abstracted by cardiac techs and/or reviewed by physician.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school degree.
- Vocational training in medical receptionist and medical billing preferred.
- One to two years experience in healthcare/medical practice preferred.
- Excellent customer relations skills in dealing with multiple publics, including patients, families, other physicians' offices, insurance carriers, co-workers, etc.
- Knowledge and understanding of third party insurance carrier regulations and billing procedures, including managed care plans and referral procedures/requirements.
- Knowledge of medical terminology to assist in completion of job duties desirable.
Salary Range
Minimum 24.00/hour - Maximum 28.00/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
