Scheduling Coordinator for Heart Services PRN
About the Role
Serves as the primary point of contact for Cardiology appointment scheduling with new and existing patients. Coordinators may schedule for practices, hospital, and ancillary services across the health system. Responsibilities include relaying patient concerns, medication refill requests, creating and sending messages to clinical staff, providers, or office staff per protocol via Power Chart Ambulatory accurately and timely. Coordinators may assist patients by providing directions, fax numbers, or following up on referrals.
Consistently delivers high-quality customer service to patients, community, businesses, and practices. Must listen to complex situations to prioritize caller needs and research requests thoroughly to ensure accuracy and optimal patient care. Remains calm in stressful situations and demonstrates thoroughness when entering patient demographics, verifying insurance, reviewing HIPAA information, scheduling appointments, or sending messages in Power Chart Ambulatory.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Completion of courses in medical terminology and basic anatomy (preferred)
- Two years of experience in a medical setting with strong emphasis on using and spelling medical terms (required)
- Strong computer skills with ability to type at moderate speed while maintaining accuracy
- Excellent customer service and phone skills
- Two years in a hospital or medical office scheduling clinical procedures using scheduling software (preferred)
- Customer service background in a call center (preferred)
