Full-time position, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM in the Urology department at the Tampa, FL location.
About the role
The Scheduling Coordinator will communicate regularly with physicians, patients, ancillary and surgical areas to handle scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellation of single or multiple tests and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate, department- and procedure-specific scheduling criteria to expedite patient preparation, arrival location, and time.
- Be proactive with all customers by actively listening, showing a caring attitude, and offering alternatives when necessary.
- Demonstrate superb telephone etiquette, a team-player attitude, and professional communication skills at all times.
- Understand and uphold Orlando Health’s Patient First Philosophy for exemplary customer service.
- Exhibit working knowledge of registration and scheduling systems, Web-based resources, computer applications, multi-line telephone systems, printers, copiers, and fax machines, including required data entry.
- Maintain a basic understanding of medical needs during the screening process for scheduling appointments.
- Consistently review schedules daily and communicate all changes to appropriate staff.
- Consistently meet departmental goals for productivity, quality, and customer service standards.
- Maintain a working knowledge of ICD-9 (ICD-10) and CPT codes as deemed necessary.
- Identify customer service issues and resolve or initiate necessary follow-up.
- Adhere to all portions of the Orlando Health Professional Appearance Policy at all times.
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Maintain regular communication with practices regarding scheduling matters as deemed necessary.
- Attend departmental meetings and in-services and participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Assume responsibility for professional growth and development.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Must complete Orlando Health medical terminology course within 90 days of hire.
- One year of retail, customer service, or healthcare experience.
- Computer experience required.
