About the Role
The Senior Scheduling Coordinator will communicate regularly with physicians, patients, ancillary, and surgical areas to schedule, reschedule, and cancel single or multiple tests and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Maintain appropriate departmental schedules.
- Provide feedback to manager for human resources functions such as hiring, coaching, and counseling.
- Efficiently and accurately gather and input patient demographic information, insurance verification/authorization, and scheduling.
- Accurately communicate prep information, arrival time, and arrival location to patients.
- Input and distribute charge management processes daily, including scheduling and canceling multiple diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Consistently review schedules daily and communicate all changes to appropriate staff.
- Act as a liaison to clinical and business staff to ensure effective and efficient patient management.
- Assist in training or mentoring team members.
- Provide accurate information on department/procedure-specific scheduling criteria to expedite patient preparation, arrival location, and time.
- Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies and legal standards.
- Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Monitor workload daily and prioritize based on department needs.
- Use medical terminology, multi-line phones, and word processing/spreadsheet applications accurately.
- Regularly communicate with Patient Access and clinical departments regarding registration and scheduling issues.
- Take a proactive role in problem resolution.
Requirements
- High school diploma and medical terminology and/or basic anatomy training required.
- Associate’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Clinical Field, or related area may substitute for up to two (2) years of experience.
- Three (3) years of experience in clinical registration and scheduling.
Associate degree in Business, Information Systems, Clinical Field, or related area may substitute for two years of experience.
