Job Summary
The Medical Office Scheduler will set up office visits for patients and handle general, customer service inquiries under the direction and supervision of the Practice Manager. The position requires a high school diploma or GED with at least 2 years' experience in a medical office setting. Previous scheduling or insurance referral/authorization experience is preferred.
Principal Duties And Essential Functions
- Answer incoming calls from patients
- Schedule patient appointments including procedures and follow-up visits
- Coordinate with facilities to enter patient demographics and insurance information
- Provide detailed directions to patients for procedure preparations
- Support the overall goals of the company
- Perform other job-related duties as requested or required
Job Knowledge And Skills
- Medical Assistant or equivalent education
- Experience working with an EMR or Centricity PM (preferred)
- Advanced knowledge of medical/GI terminology and insurance plans
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent customer service and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Excellent computer skills
- Must have a good work ethic and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Professional appearance and demeanor (required)
Qualifications

- Multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment (required)
- Detail-oriented (required)
- Basic understanding of healthcare plans (required)
- Bilingual (preferred)
Requirements For Level I Status
- Entry level (1-4 years experience) and/or meet the basic requirements of the job with the need for additional supervision
- Excess of 4 years experience if meeting only the basic requirements of the job with need for additional supervision
