About the role

We are seeking individuals who desire to work in a customer-driven, market-focused log export facility while maintaining a positive attitude and work ethic. The facility operates under a small crew flow-to-work concept, requiring all employees to perform various activities and be willing to change job assignments as needed.

Key functions include working outside, log scaling, log sorting, log accountability, yard and deck inventory activities, and the use of handheld computers and other scaling equipment. Additional duties involve yard cleanup, power saw operation, and other shop and yard labor activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform log scaling and sorting
• Manage log accountability and inventory activities
• Use handheld computers and scaling equipment
• Complete yard ground duties, including cleanup and power saw operation
• Perform other shop and yard labor activities as needed
• Adhere to log yard safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment
• Work overtime as operating conditions require

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge and experience as a log scaler
• Experience with sorting specifications, species identification, and using handheld electronic scaling devices
• Excellent listening and communication skills; ability to read and follow written instructions
• Team-oriented with the ability to work successfully with others
• Ability to perform essential job functions such as bending, stooping, reaching overhead, lifting, stepping over/around objects, and climbing equipment
• Must pass a post-offer physical exam, drug screen, and background check
• This position is safety-sensitive; pre-employment testing for cannabis and its metabolites is required

Pay

Starting pay rate: $36.98 per hour. After proven competency and mastering all job responsibilities, the rate increases to $38.76 per hour for a Senior Log Scaler.
