Scale Service Technician (w/CDL)
About the role
Kanawha Scales & Systems (KSS) is seeking a skilled Scale Service Technician with a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for our Atlanta, GA team. This role ensures the accurate and reliable operation of various scales used in industrial and commercial settings.
Responsibilities
- Properly install and set up industrial, laboratory, and commercial scales according to manufacturer specifications.
- Perform calibration procedures and adjust settings to meet precision requirements.
- Conduct routine maintenance, diagnose issues, and repair scales promptly to minimize downtime.
- Inspect scales for wear, damage, and functionality; address issues with load cells, displays, and other components.
- Maintain detailed service and calibration records, including certificates and service reports.
- Communicate professionally with clients regarding service requirements, estimates, and technical questions.
- Follow safety protocols when working with heavy equipment and electrical components.
- Ensure all serviced scales meet quality and regulatory standards.
- Track tools, parts, and equipment; replenish supplies as needed.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and scale technology advancements.
Requirements
- Experience in scale installation, calibration, and repair.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
- Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, NIST Handbook 44).
- Proficiency with calibration and measurement equipment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied conditions.
- Valid driver’s license; Class B (or A) CDL a plus.
- AC/DC, MIG Welding experience is a plus.
Skills and Knowledge
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training preferred.
- 2–3 years of relevant industry experience preferred.

Working Conditions
- The nature of the industrial weighing business is 24/7/365, and the Scale Service Technician must be prepared to support operations as needed.
- Special working conditions include evening and weekend work, working outdoors and in various environmental conditions, operating in and around industrial facilities across a wide range of industries, interacting with challenging stakeholders, performing tasks outside normal office hours, which may occasionally be done remotely.
