Scale Assistant

About the Role

Initiates, coordinates, and executes administrative support to staff and customers at the reporting location and all other Five Star Cooperative locations. This position promotes and sells services and merchandise across all departments, maintains detailed recordkeeping, and ensures accurate pricing of grain through sampling and grading. The incumbent will assist other locations and departments as needed, maintaining efficiency to optimize the cooperative’s market share and savings while delivering outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities

• Enforce and abide by all cooperative policies.
• Weigh, sample, and grade all incoming and outgoing grain according to specifications.
• Provide strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; manage priorities and workflow.
• Assist with billing, contracts, recordkeeping, and filing for various departments.
• Maintain accurate inventory of all parts and products at the location.
• Enforce and uphold the cooperative’s credit policy.
• Maintain good communication with all employees and customers.
• Check with other departments to see if help is needed before leaving.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management, adapting to the changing needs of the company.
• Uphold a positive attitude that promotes teamwork and a favorable image of Five Star Cooperative.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• Fluent reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer skills required – proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good customer service skills and approach.

Preferred Qualifications

• Agriculture background.
• Certification to Grade Grain or ability to obtain.
• Valid driver’s license.
