Scaffold Builder - OFFSHORE

About the role

This position is responsible for site inspection and layout of areas that require scaffolding, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and scaffold safety standards. The role involves constructing tube and clamp, pin lock, cup lock, and system scaffolds, and requires ownership of scaffolding tools such as ratchets, sockets, wrenches, and hammers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform site inspections and layout for scaffolding areas.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and scaffold safety standards.
  • Construct tube and clamp, pin lock, cup lock, and system scaffolds.
  • Provide proper access and egress for scaffolding structures.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of rigging hardware and procedures.
  • Work under extreme weather conditions, including hot and cold environments.
  • Follow scaffold building instructions specific to design, location, and client/project demands.
  • Communicate effectively with scaffolding crew and other departments on projects.
  • Acquire and maintain a government I.D.
  • Communicate effectively with production teams.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of scaffolding/carpentry experience.
  • Knowledge of erecting and inspecting scaffolds.
  • Certified Scaffold Competent Person is preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
  • NCCER Certificate Holder is preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Field work in shop, shipyard, or on-site locations.
  • Capable of working at heights and inside confined spaces.
  • Open-air conditions including noise, heat, and cold.
  • Must wear hearing, eye, and head protection.
  • Some climbing (up to 100 feet) and lifting (up to 50 lbs) involved.
  • Work with hot and sometimes hazardous materials.
  • Traverse gangways and scaffolding at varying heights.

Necessary Equipment Operation

  • Working knowledge of rigging hardware and procedures.

Special Skills

  • Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures.
  • Ability to understand and execute work scope directions from the Scaffolding Foreman.
