About the role

The Small Business Administration (SBA) Banker II leads business development with a primary focus on SBA lending and deposit growth while maintaining market‑leadership presence in the local community. The role aggressively solicits and services prospective and current clients producing SBA 7(a), 504 and USDA loans, generates and manages a portfolio of business relationships, and seeks new accounts through calling efforts, marketing, and referrals. The Banker consistently gains confidence and trust through honesty, integrity, and authenticity.

Responsibilities

  • Business Development
    • Establish a consistent SBA business‑development cadence in the marketplace, including call planning, follow‑up client retention calls, and new‑client prospecting.
    • Conduct outbound telephone‑calling efforts and attend networking events.
    • Maintain a mature Center of Influence (COI) base of community and business leaders and leverage referrals.
    • Develop and maintain partnerships with internal line‑of‑business leaders.
    • Source and build new business relationships; coordinate the sale and execution of SBA guarantees to generate non‑interest income.
    • Oversee technology platforms and vendor relationships that streamline the SBA loan process.
  • Credit Acumen
    • Understand all business credit facilities, including Commercial Real Estate (CRE), lines of credit, equipment financing/leasing, factoring, and SBA financing.
    • Structure proper terms and products based on business needs, growth plans, debt consolidation, and personal‑to‑business debt transfers.
    • Analyze business and personal financial statements and tax returns to assess creditworthiness and risk.
    • Educate prospective clients on underwriting guidelines, SBA programs, and applicable government regulations.
    • Service, modify, or restructure existing loans as needed; monitor client creditworthiness and repayment activity.
    • Direct back‑office personnel in resolving credit problems and delinquent payments; coordinate with attorneys, loan closers, and other staff to ensure timely loan closing and funding.
    • Mentor junior SBA lenders and adhere to Seacoast Bank policies, BSA/AML/OFAC regulations, and the Code of Conduct.
    • Accept loan applications, collect required information, and follow Fair Lending standards to ensure equal treatment of all applicants.
    • Practice ethical sales behaviors in line with the Associate Code of Conduct and Sales Practices Policy, acting in the best interest of applicants.
    • Proactively resolve customer concerns, escalating issues when necessary.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree in a financial‑related discipline preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in business development and/or financial services (including 5+ years of directly related SBA experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with desktop, laptop, tablet, and smartphone devices; strong command of Microsoft Office Suite.
