Saw Operator - 3rd shift

About the Role

Howmet Aerospace is seeking an energetic and dependable entry level full time Cast House Saw Operator to join our manufacturing business in Barberton, OH. This role operates production equipment to meet quality and production targets and requires operators to regularly rotate between duties. Training will be provided to the selected candidate.

Responsibilities

• Follows all safety procedures
• Operates one or more pieces of equipment in a safe and efficient manner to produce quality products while keeping a quick pace
• Performs compliance checks and completes paperwork, documentation and reports
• Completes required paperwork
• Participates in TPM activities
• Ensures that 5S requirements are met
• Assists in problem solving of identified problems in the department
• Cleans equipment and lubricates to keep in like-new condition
• Inspects equipment to identify and correct potential failures; uses error-proof/mistake-proof techniques to prevent failure; identifies, responds to, documents problems and resolves to root cause
• Analyzes equipment performance data (via computer) to improve performance
• Performs basic maintenance and lubrication tasks to prevent failure (TPM concepts)
• Participates in team meetings and provides suggestions to continuously improve all processes
• Operates hoist, trucks and other power-driven equipment
• Works from standards, develops and revises as necessary to improve processes, eliminate waste and manage scrap
• Operates all equipment as necessary and monitors system performance
• Documents saw blade and other tooling component changes to improve process
• Determines and requisitions required materials
• Sets up, adjusts and tends manual or automatic controlled robots and lubricating equipment
• Controls lubricant emissions to protect environment
• Collects, analyzes and reacts to production data
• Performs quality checks, records data, and provides adjustments to achieve product requirements
• Sets up and adjusts equipment, measurements etc. and monitors for consistent performance
• Maintains identity of product (tracking) through the process
• Uses computer to obtain historical information for problem solving
• Loads and unloads trucks
• Receives stock and approves deliveries and shipments
• Operates mobile equipment

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand all warning labels, JSA and MSDS
• Ability to be Mobile Equipment and LOTOV Certified
• Ability to work in a team environment
• 1 year manufacturing experience
• High School Diploma, GED, or 2 years work experience
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (verification of employment eligibility required at time of hire; visa sponsorship not available)

Preferred Qualifications

• Foundry or casting experience is preferred
• Manufacturing experience

• Lifting: Medium – Lift on an occasional basis a maximum of 40 pounds with frequent or constant lifting of 25 pounds

• Bending and Twisting: Constantly (greater than 80% of workday)

Pay

Starting at $20.61/hr with an additional $1.00/hr shift differential for 3rd Shift (11:00PM – 7:00AM).
