About the role
The Site Operations Manager ensures daily and project work is completed safely and on time within a 24/7 distribution center, maintaining Scope of Work and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Operations & Service Delivery
- Sign off on daily, monthly, and weekly checklists to document sanitation activities.
- Collaborate with the team to coordinate and execute daily operations, resolving deficiencies promptly.
- Oversee daily operations, including allergen processes, machine scrubbing, deep cleaning of bays, and material separation.
- Tour and inspect the location with Shift/Site Supervisors to ensure guidelines are followed.
- Maintain coverage for all three shifts by coordinating with shift leads and confirming daily schedules.
- Attend daily huddle meetings with management and leads for recaps and planning.
- Oversee weekend activity as needed.
- Conduct inspections using Sales Force, meet clients, and provide subsequent reports.
- Assume the role of a cleaner to address facility needs if necessary.
- Schedule projects with customers, coordinate resources, and ensure completion.
- Leadership, Supervision & Employee Development
- Ensure personnel are properly trained for their respective positions.
- Measure performance, provide feedback, and develop staff; set clear expectations.
- Handle progressive counseling and performance issues in conjunction with HR.
- Monitor and direct activities, following up with staff continuously.
- Customer Relations & Communication
- Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with customers and staff.
- Report issues, concerns, or important occurrences to the direct manager in a timely manner.
- Act as the customer’s main point of contact, available via phone 7 days a week for emergencies.
- Submit weekly activity logs, including allergen and glass cleanup sheets, to customers’ Safety Manager.
- Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
- Promote a safe work environment and keep safety top of mind.
- Implement machinery use and safety programs, including forklift training, in collaboration with HR.
- Ensure employee and service provider safety through timely incident reporting and proper PPE use.
- Enforce company policies to establish a culture of health and safety according to legal guidelines.
- Support the development of the company’s Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) policies and programs.
- Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventative safety measures as needed.
- Administrative & Resource Management
- Review and approve worked hours for the account during each billing/pay period.
- Manage and order chemical and supply inventory as necessary.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Submit accurate and comprehensive daily QA reports by the end of each workday.
- Ensure timely submission of slot cleaning and spill reports with zero missed or incomplete reports.
- Complete and submit monthly Glass/Allergen and Safety audit reports on schedule, with corrective actions taken as necessary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 5–10 years of related experience, with at least 5 years in management, preferably in janitorial, sanitation, or a related field.
- Experience in facilities maintenance, janitorial business, or a warehouse/distribution center environment.
- Proficient in Windows-based office software, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of floor care and cleaning equipment.
- Ability to follow contract terms related to proper floor maintenance.
- Ability to multi-task, work independently, and collaborate in a team setting.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership skills to create and lead teams.
Physical Demands
- Continually required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel.
- Frequently required to lift and/or move 50+ pounds.
- Ability to communicate orally and via mobile smart phone and email is essential.
- Hearing and vision within normal ranges for conversations, receiving information, and preparing documents.
- Must be able to operate forklifts/pallet jacks as needed.
- Work is performed in a distribution warehouse environment.
- Willingness to work different shifts as business needs arise.
