Sanitation Lead I - 3rd Shift
About the Role
The Plant Sanitation Lead is responsible for executing the Sanitation program and ensuring all current Food Safety Standards are met throughout the site. This role involves training and developing production employees to identify and control GMP issues, enforcing food safety standards, and communicating sanitation issues to management and staff.
Responsibilities
- Ensures sanitation employees practice safe chemical handling, PPE use, and human safety related to sanitation activities.
- Assists in developing and maintaining Sanitation programs (FSMA, MSS, etc.) in compliance with customer and government regulations.
- Assists with consumer complaint issues and leads plant teams to minimize complaints.
- Develops Sanitation procedures and paperwork.
- Works with the Sanitation Team to identify sanitation or regulation issues at the facility.
- Ensures the facility is ready for Third Party, Customer, or Regulatory inspections.
- Assists with policy, procedures, and paperwork to meet Company and Customer standards.
- Fosters an atmosphere for the development of contract workers (if applicable).
- Manages the Master Sanitation Schedule.
- Identifies Continuous Improvement opportunities for facility sanitation.
- Performs pre-operational inspections.
- Maintains supply inventories.
- Works with the Quality Assurance Department to identify and correct sanitation or environmental issues.
- Conducts dilution testing of all chemicals as required.
- Trains employees in proper sanitation methods.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Sanitation Manager.
Requirements
- 2 to 3 years of experience in a sanitation or food safety role.
- Must understand the seven steps of cleaning and sanitizing for wet or dry facilities.
- Must understand the Master Sanitation Plan for the facility.
- Good understanding of plant GMPs.
- Complete understanding of PPE, chemical safety, and machinery used to access plant areas.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical ability, and leadership strength.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Excel and email correspondence.
- Excellent attendance record.
- Demonstrated ability to handle conflicts with a positive and practical attitude.

Work Environment
Work is primarily done in a production environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, moving machinery, forklifts, water, chemicals, and fluctuations in temperature and humidity.
