About the Role

The General Labor position encompasses many entry-level roles within the production work area, including Fryer Grader, Packer, Sanitation Worker, Supply Attendant, and more. This role works closely with department supervisors, leads, and processing team members to ensure accuracy and quality in the processing department. The position supports safe, reliable, and efficient operations aligned with Foster Poultry Farms’ mission, vision, and ACTION guiding principles: Accountability, Collaboration, Truth-Seeking, Initiative, Ownership, and Nimbleness.

Responsibilities

  • Fryer Grader - Broken Stick Observation
    • Observe all stick bar assemblies as they rotate through the stick insertion process.
    • Monitor stick bars for broken stick pieces adhered within fryer clips and notify the Fryer Operator when observed.
    • Use a handheld counter to track broken sticks that pass through the process.
    • Use a flashlight to assist in monitoring stick bars during the cycle.
  • Fryer Grader - Post Fryer/Pre-Freezer
    • Remove “B-grade” product from the line and place it into a condemn barrel.
    • Ensure clean product separation and transfer into the freezer.
    • Notify Sanitation or Condemn Room Attendant Team Members when the condemn barrel is full.
  • Packer
    • Pack the appropriate number of frozen corndogs into boxes using proper equipment and procedures.
    • Visually inspect and grade product to determine production line grade.
  • Sanitation
    • Maintain good housekeeping and sanitary conditions on the production floor.
    • Help maintain and improve quality and food safety to ensure compliance with company standards and USDA regulatory requirements.
  • Product Inspector
    • Visually and physically inspect product at any step in the process for quality to ensure compliance with company standards and USDA regulatory requirements.
    • Notify leadership of any consistent abnormalities to avoid poor quality products.
  • Stacker
    • Stack cases of frozen corndogs onto pallets using required patterns while maintaining quality, productivity, and safety standards.
    • Safely operate a pallet jack to transport pallets.
  • Supply Attendant
    • Maintain and organize the PPE supply room.
    • Ensure cleanliness of boot rooms, restrooms, break rooms, and surrounding areas.
    • Notify management of PPE inventory levels consistently.
    • Distribute PPE in accordance with GMP policies and procedures.
  • All personnel are responsible for the quality and food safety of company products. New hires receive a food safety handbook and attend a training session before starting work. Annual refresher training is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand for up to 10 hours on a wet concrete floor.
  • Work in cold (40-48°F) and hot (80°F+) environments.
  • Safely lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and E-verify.
  • Read and write English; basic math skills.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Decision-making ability to flag deviations from procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of sanitation and cleanup preferred.
  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work safely and set an example for coworkers.
  • Safely operate a forklift and/or pallet jack.
  • Wear company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
