About the Role
The General Laborer will work in various areas of our manufacturing plant. This is an entry-level position where the right candidate will have an opportunity to grow with the company.
Responsibilities
- Feed items into machinery, assemble boxes, stack goods on pallets, and apply stretch wrap by hand.
- Look out for defective products for reprocessing and repair.
- Provide labor support as needed; backfill other positions at the line when necessary.
- Stand and conduct work with proper safety restraints and identify unsafe slip and fall hazards by performing cleanup tasks.
- Direct and help new employees when necessary to ensure safety at work.
- Maintain cleanliness by wiping down machines, equipment, and products, such as machines, carts, and tables.
- Lift materials, final products, and other items packed for shipment (up to 60 pounds).
- Open and close rolls of product and final product during processing.
- Place product on work surface for further cleaning, inspecting, and wrapping.
- Separate product according to size, grade, part number, and composition of material used.
- Examine product to verify conformance to company standards.
- Record information such as number of finished goods, meter readings, and date/time of completed production.
- Count finished product to determine completion of rolls/production as well as for distribution.
- Attach stickers, plastics, or tags to product.
- Tie product in bundles for shipment.
- Handle heavy machinery, including pallet jack vehicles.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Warehouse experience.
- Possess a high regard for safety in the workplace.
- Good math, language, and reading skills.
- Good eye/hand coordination and motor skills.
- Excellent teamwork skills.
Work Environment
- Exposure to moving equipment.
- Inside work with heat that may exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Humidity may exceed 80%.
- Noise may exceed 85dB+.
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, stooping, squatting (up to 75%).
- Lifting up to 60 pounds.
Schedule
12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule.
