About the role

The Sample Receiving Technician will assist and oversee receiving, logging, pressurizing, screening, and distributing samples in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

  • Accept and sign for deliveries; log samples using the company’s LIMS system.
  • Open boxes and coolers, inspect shipment contents, and check documentation to ensure all samples are accounted for.
  • Pressurize canister samples.
  • Read, understand, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) required by methods, clients, or internal procedures.
  • Perform documentation, sample preparation, standard preparation, and data handling in accordance with SOPs.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on pressurization instruments.
  • Provide miscellaneous support to departments as requested by management.
  • Respond to daily requests in a timely manner and communicate any roadblocks encountered.
  • Screen samples and evaluate results (as needed).
  • Prepare Tedlar Bags and canister dilutions; re-screen when a saturated level of analytes is present.
  • Handle other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, production environment like food service or manufacturing.
  • Strong initiative, attention to detail, and hands-on approach.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills to meet project deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork abilities and commitment to safety and efficiency.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory techniques.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to handle issues calmly and effectively.
  • Physical capability to perform job requirements, including lifting up to 35 pounds continuously, standing for prolonged periods, and pushing carts weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Availability to work full-time (Monday–Friday) during training, with flexibility to rotate weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Professional working proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.

Skills

  • Adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures.
  • Ability to read, understand, and comply with SOPs.
  • Safe handling and transport of hazardous materials, including cryogenic liquids, compressed gases, sharps, and liquid solvents (e.g., methylene chloride, acetonitrile, acetone).
  • Ability to work upright, bend, and use hands and arms repetitively.
  • Effective hearing and speaking for communication in person or on the phone.

Hazardous Material Handling

The Eurofins Air Toxics laboratory houses chemicals necessary for environmental sample analysis, including cryogenic Dewars of liquid nitrogen, compressed gases (helium, nitrogen, hydrogen), sharps, and liquid solvents such as methylene chloride, acetonitrile, and acetone. This position requires safe handling and transport of these materials. Employees must reference the Chemical Hygiene Plan and Injury and Illness Prevention Program for additional guidance.

Pay

Compensation range: $18–$20 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

  • Full-time position.
  • Initial training: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–3:30 PM.
  • After training: Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–6:30 PM.
  • Possible overtime and weekend shifts as needed.
