Sample Coordinator I

About the role

We are seeking a Sample Coordinator to work in our Bacteriology Department at our Wilmington, MA location. This individual will be responsible for the receipt and organization of internal and external samples designated for testing by the RADS Laboratories.

Responsibilities

  • Unpack and inventory sample boxes
  • Reconcile customer paperwork with submission documentation to ensure accuracy
  • Record all incoming sample shipments and contents of those shipments in the laboratory data management system
  • Create customer orders in the laboratory data management system
  • Absorb and distribute received samples to the correct testing departments
  • Identify sample submission issues/errors from external clients and report those inaccuracies to senior personnel
  • Prepare communications to internal clients regarding basic sample issues
  • Absorb and coordinate shipments from the laboratory
  • Organize and prepare case materials for sample processing such as plates, tubes, etc.
  • Use manual and automated processes to prepare and inoculate test samples
  • Use, maintain and troubleshoot equipment
  • Prepare reagents as necessary
  • Work productively in group situations as well as independently
  • Absorb and report departmental exceptions to the manager or designee as instructed
  • Share responsibility for departmental housekeeping and adherence to established safety procedures
  • Maintain skills in using computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and others as the need arises
  • Maintain up to date training records on all procedures and protocols applicable to work duties
  • Adhere to all departmental SOPs, policies, safety procedures and protocols
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or Associate's degree (A.S.) in biological sciences or related discipline
  • 0 to 2 years related industry experience in a Pharmaceutical, Biotech, or Contract Research Organization laboratory environment
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is a must
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office (ie: Word and Excel)

  • Employee must have the ability to communicate effectively in a small group or one-on-one setting
  • Employee must have the ability to remain organized in a fast-paced environment

Skills

  • Ability to work in a structured and regulated environment

Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.50 per hour.
