About the role

The Sample Coordinator performs a variety of sample and standard handling tasks in support of the laboratory, following established SOPs and assisting laboratory staff with minimal supervision. You will possess a basic understanding of the overall sample and standard process and help enforce sample handling procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sample and standard tasks including receipt, check-in, login, labeling, launching, inventory, transport, check-out, and disposal.
  • Communicate sample and standard status to laboratory staff and guide them on procedures.
  • Complete investigation and deviation forms, determining appropriate corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Review and provide feedback on laboratory requests to ensure compliance with SOPs.
  • Train on SOPs, regulatory guidelines, and storage requirements.
  • Respond to environmental unit alarms and participate in on-call responsibilities.
  • Perform work assignments accurately, timely, and safely.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus relevant formal academic or vocational qualification.
  • Technical positions may require a certificate.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory flow and control.
  • Knowledge of laboratory and regulatory requirements, including documentation and sample storage.
  • Ability to write and review SOPs and process improvement outlines.
  • Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance.
  • Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards.

Skills

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Effective time management and project management skills.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Working Environment

  • Regulated laboratory setting with potential exposure to biological fluids and infectious organisms.
  • Ability to work in sub-frozen environments.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.).
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and work under potentially stressful deadlines.
