Sample Coordinator (2nd Shift; 4:30pm-1am)

About the role
The Sample Coordinator performs a variety of sample and standard handling tasks in support of the laboratory, following established SOPs with minimal supervision. You will assist laboratory staff in adhering to sample handling procedures, enforce compliance, and possess a basic understanding of the overall sample and standard process. This role supports the top pharmaceutical and biotech companies across 100+ countries.
Responsibilities
- Perform sample and standard tasks including receipt, check-in, login, labeling, launching, inventory, transport, check-out, and disposal.
- Communicate sample and standard status to laboratory staff and guide them on procedures.
- Complete investigation and deviation forms, determining appropriate corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
- Review and provide feedback on laboratory requests to ensure compliance with SOPs.
- Train on SOPs, regulatory guidelines, and storage requirements.
- Respond to environmental unit alarms and participate in on-call responsibilities.
- Perform work assignments accurately, timely, and safely.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus relevant formal academic or vocational qualification.
- Technical positions may require a certificate.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. without assistance.
- Ability to work in sub-frozen environments (-22°F / -6°C).
- Willingness to work in a laboratory setting with potential exposure to biological fluids and infectious organisms.
- Required use of PPE (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.).
- Ability to work in various outside weather conditions.
Skills
- Basic knowledge of inventory flow and control.
- Understanding of laboratory and regulatory requirements (documentation, sample storage).
- Ability to write and review SOPs and process improvement outlines.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Effective time and project management skills.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to prioritize assignments and work under potentially stressful deadlines.
Schedule
Second Shift (Afternoons), may include shift work and on-call responsibilities.
Pay
Hourly pay range: $18.30 with a 10% shift differential. Estimated range for this position in Virginia is $17.00–$22.88 per hour. Eligible for a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance.
