Salon Business Consultant is a consulting and relationship-building solution specialist role, covering and growing a territory in and around Owatonna, Worthington, Jackson, Faribault, Albert Lea, and New Prague, Minnesota (MN). The ideal candidate would reside in or very near Owatonna, Worthington, Jackson, or Albert Lea, Minnesota (MN).
This full-time career opportunity offers uncapped commission, a vehicle reimbursement plan, and full benefits. Salon/beauty industry experience is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Grow the Business:
- Identify key accounts within territory and establish an efficient route to develop existing customers while seeking new partnerships.
- Demonstrate and assist customers in developing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and tracking results of in-salon promotions, programs, and concepts.
- Determine customers’ needs and offer products and services to meet those needs.
- Communicate all sales initiatives through partnering with vendors to achieve corporate sales goals on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Acknowledge and respond to all email, text, and phone communication within 24 hours.
- Analyze accounts to decide what brand support, education, and promotions are needed to grow within each salon.
- Call on customers in person to execute established sales goals.
- Strictly comply with established procedures regarding the processing of returns, including pick-up and required documentation.
- Complete assignments and projects in a timely manner.
- Work with all areas of the business, including customer service, accounts receivable, IT, and other necessary functions.
- Actively prospect for new customers through cold calling, social media, and other digital outlets.
- Manage all administrative aspects of the role, including daily order entry and maintenance of customer information in salesforce.com.
- Attract and retain salon clientele using social media for communication, promotion, education, and product knowledge.
- Conduct effective in-person and virtual product knowledge classes.
- Communicate with the Manager regarding calls, visits, orders, sales progress, follow-up plans, and any needed assistance.
- Grow Team and Culture:
- Be a subject matter expert on utilizing digital platforms and social media to grow the business; share knowledge with peers.
- Attend all meetings, functions, and events as required by the Company or Supervisor.
- Participate in setup and dismantling of displays, booths, and other physical activities at shows and events.
- Support new initiatives with a growth mindset and foster positive change management throughout the team.
- Grow Yourself:
- Exhibit a desire to learn and grow, striving for continuous improvement in digital and social media techniques.
- Schedule and attend business development days (BDD) to increase product knowledge and develop professional vendor relationships.
- Allocate and optimize time for learning using all available tools and resources.
- Remain agile to market changes and build industry knowledge to react to a competitive market.
- Actively work to increase own product, industry, and market knowledge.
- Create an organized work environment and workflow to efficiently service customers.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent certification.
- Minimum of 1 year demonstrated outside sales experience or beauty industry experience with emphasis on consultative selling.
- Must live within the assigned territory.
- Working knowledge of inventory control systems and visual merchandising is strongly preferred.
- Excellent knowledge and experience using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other social media platforms to build business pipelines.
- Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of salesforce.com, Outlook, PDF Expert, and Oracle; experience with iPad is a plus.
- Ability to build an online community and create social connections using search engines and other internet tools.
- This position requires local travel within the territory and attendance at shows, conventions, and educational events, which may include overnight travel and/or weekend nights.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Frequent and sometimes prolonged periods of driving are necessary for this role.
- Committed to working scheduled hours with flexibility to work additional hours based on business needs.
- Strong time management and organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to present a professional business image and interact positively with the public.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the organization.
