Sales Representative

Salary range: $43K - $60K depending on experience, plus monthly incentives.

About the role

This position is responsible for managing an assigned territory to achieve appropriate sales volume. Responsibilities include introducing and promoting new products, improving distribution, ensuring promotion results, and executing company merchandising standards for off-premise and on-premise accounts.

Responsibilities

• Territory Management
  • Manage an assigned territory by monitoring business conditions, identifying new opportunities, and maintaining necessary account records.
  • Develop trust and confidence with retailers as a merchandising consultant.
  • Compile lists of prospective customers for sales leads using newspapers, business directories, and other sources.
  • Travel throughout the assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers in person and by phone.
  • Prepare for sales calls by establishing customer history, credit information, and knowledge of company capabilities.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting to sales management on sales, distribution, and promotion issues.
• Selling
  • Maximize sales results through pre-planning and executing daily, weekly, and monthly objectives.
  • Develop a sound knowledge of products and competitive offerings.
  • Make persuasive presentations, answer questions, overcome objections, and present proposals.
  • Demonstrate products using samples or catalogs, emphasizing salable features.
  • Quote prices, solicit orders, and assist with current price books.
  • Make sales and follow-up calls to customers and prospects.
  • Write orders, design displays, and organize on-site promotions.
• Merchandising
  • Understand and apply in-store merchandising principles in assigned retail accounts.
  • Influence retail accounts to use shelf management, cold box, and floor display guidelines.
  • Use point-of-sale materials to increase merchandising success.
• Servicing
  • Know which products each account sells and ensure proper rotation, cleanliness, stocking, and rebating.
  • Adhere to the company’s professional dress and appearance policy.
  • Perform job duties safely and considerately.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred; one to two years of related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, proof of auto insurance (SR-22 not acceptable), and reliable transportation.
• Beverage sales and/or merchandising experience preferred, along with knowledge of the local market, customer service skills, and distribution industry experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to work with minimal supervision while handling competing priorities.

Physical Demands

• Use of pallet jacks and hand carts to load and unload products.
• Frequently lift and/or move 10-40 pounds; occasionally move/push or pull up to 250 pounds (e.g., loaded hand cart or pallet).
• Regularly stand, walk, lift products from floor to waist and shoulder to overhead, use hands to handle objects/tools, reach with hands and arms, and communicate verbally.
• Occasionally sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Work Environment

This position is based in Sitka, AK. The work environment is typically moderate in noise level, though it may occasionally be high due to outside environmental factors.
