About the Role
Manages a sales territory of national, regional, and local multi-unit operators, ensuring customer needs are met while achieving and exceeding budgeted sales and gross profit objectives. Functions as a team member within the department and performs any assigned duties to best serve the company.
Responsibilities
- Regularly call on existing and potential customers per a defined call frequency plan to meet or exceed their needs and achieve sales budgets.
- Effectively manage segment markets by location, potential, and size, developing short- and long-term strategies to target high-potential accounts.
- Develop and execute a quarterly business plan, including account-specific actions to achieve goals.
- Build long-term customer relationships by understanding their business, listening for needs, and summarizing information to reinforce understanding.
- Address customer objections openly and honestly, following through on all commitments in a timely manner.
- Communicate with local brokers and manufacturer representatives to uncover sales opportunities.
- Align customer needs with Broadline’s service features and benefits, advocating solutions that support their business strategies.
- Compare Broadline’s services to competitors and develop appropriate bids and menus to support customer strategies.
- Refer non-sales issues (e.g., delayed shipments, order expediting) to Sales Managers, center personnel, or support groups quickly.
- Communicate customer information, issues, and needs to the distribution center customer service team and merchandising regularly.
- Involve management in appropriate internal and external meetings and enlist Sales Managers’ assistance as needed.
- Use Broadline’s information system, laptop, and telephone to enhance customer relationships through presentations, correspondence, and calls.
- Retrieve and utilize data to make profitable pricing recommendations for both the customer and Broadline.
- Travel to customer locations and perform administrative management of the assigned customer base.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
- 2–4 years of foodservice sales experience.
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to meet company Motor Vehicle Report requirements.
- Able to travel as required.
Pay
$65,000 – $70,000 per year.
