About the role

Our Sales Manager will oversee the development, coordination, and direction of profitable sales within a specified region. Key responsibilities include leading a team of sales professionals, implementing corporate initiatives, maintaining supplier relationships, and growing Veritiv’s customer base.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a team of high performers who grow business through new account acquisition and expanding share of wallet.
  • Implement sales and marketing strategies contributing to Territory and Regional objectives.
  • Conduct sales meetings, trainings, and account/pipeline reviews regularly with the sales group.
  • Set appropriate performance objectives for team members and hold them accountable for achieving these goals.
  • Identify opportunities and present solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Create a personal network and represent the organization at business sector events to enhance the company brand.
  • Work with the Credit Manager to ensure accounts receivable are kept current.
  • Manage and report on team performance, assets (inventory), and budget execution.

Qualifications

  • Experience and knowledge in Packaging or similar industry preferred.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes.
  • Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills required.
  • Good interpersonal and conflict management skills required.
  • 30% travel required.
  • Experience managing a team of 5-10 direct reports.
  • Territory sales or account management experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding or experience from a large, national or decentralized distribution organization preferred.
  • Experience with Salesforce.com or other CRM systems preferred.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Experience with strategic management and leadership across company functions directing substantial resources over long time frames.
  • Experience of planning, managing, and organizing resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework.
  • Strong planning and organization skills required.

Pay

Salary Range: $143,000 to $210,400 with bonus eligibility.

Schedule

May involve some evening and weekend work due to travel requirements.

Physical Requirements

A significant portion of the job responsibilities will require computer work involving the continuous use of the fingers, hands, wrists, and sitting for long periods of time. The position also requires frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds. The position requires work in an office as well as travel to customers, suppliers, group meetings, etc.
