About the Role
Our Sales Manager will oversee the development, coordination, and direction of profitable sales within a specified region. This position requires a proactive approach to the entire sales process, including intelligence gathering, prospecting, negotiating, and account management.
Responsibilities
- Develop a team of high performers who grow business through new account acquisition and expanding share of wallet.
- Implement sales and marketing strategies to achieve Territory and Regional objectives.
- Conduct sales meetings, trainings, and account/pipeline reviews regularly with the sales group.
- Set performance objectives for team members and hold them accountable for achieving these.
- Identify opportunities and present solutions that meet customer needs.
- Create a personal network and represent the organization at business sector events to enhance the company brand.
- Ensure team members maintain up-to-date customer and inventory data in the CRM and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Manage and report on team performance, assets (inventory), and budget execution.
- Partner with the Credit Manager to ensure accounts receivable are kept current.
- Maintain and renew deep knowledge of the organization’s policies and procedures to ensure adherence to required standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of successful supervisory/management experience to motivate and develop direct reports.
- 3-5 years of related job experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills.
- Good interpersonal and conflict management skills.
- 30% travel required.
- Experience managing a team of 5-10 direct reports.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience and knowledge in Packaging.
- Territory sales or account management experience.
- Strong understanding or experience from a large, national, or decentralized distribution organization.
- Experience with Salesforce.com or other CRM.
Physical Requirements
- A significant portion of the job involves computer work, including continuous use of fingers, hands, wrists, and sitting for long periods.
- Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.
- Work in an office as well as travel to customers, suppliers, and group meetings.
