Sales Director – Media, Data, Branded Content & Events
About the Role
As Director, Sales - General Market, you will own Motorsport Network's commercial relationships across the full breadth of the US advertiser landscape that sits outside the categories held by our dedicated Head of Industry teams. This is an individual-contributor, hunter-oriented role built for a true generalist: someone who has excellent client and agency contacts and can walk into virtually any category—QSR, insurance, telecommunications, pharma and healthcare, CPG, and dozens more—and find the right way to connect that brand to our motorsport and auto audience.
Where our Heads of Industry go deep on a small number of sectors, you go wide. Your mandate is to open doors across many categories simultaneously, be the face of Motorsport Network, identify where the motorsport audience's demographics create a compelling story for a brand that has never considered our platform, and build the initial relationship—determining, over time, whether an account should scale into its own dedicated vertical.
This role sits within the core commercial organization and reports to the Global Chief Commercial Officer. You will be a primary point of contact for agencies and brands (often challenger brands) who don't fit neatly into an existing or assigned industry.
Responsibilities
- Prospect broadly across multiple non-endemic categories (QSR, insurance, telecommunications, pharma/healthcare, CPG, etc.) to identify and open new business opportunities.
- Build and close pipeline from cold outreach, not just manage inbound demand.
- Serve as the face of Motorsport Network to agencies and brands, crafting compelling narratives that connect their objectives to our motorsport and auto audience.
- Close six- and seven-figure partnership deals at a media, sports, or entertainment property.
- Determine whether an account should scale into its own dedicated vertical over time.
- Operate in a globally distributed, fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
Requirements
- 8+ years of senior commercial experience in media (preferably sports or motorsports), sponsorship, branded content, marketing, events, or partnerships.
- Demonstrated ability to sell across multiple platforms and verticals rather than a single sector specialization.
- Proven new-business hunter track record with a focus on building pipeline and closing deals from cold outreach.
- Existing network of brand-side marketing decision-makers and agency partners spanning several non-endemic categories.
- Strong track record closing six- and seven-figure partnership deals.
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and negotiation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience at a sports media or motorsports property, rights holder, or premium publisher selling across a broad portfolio of non-endemic categories.
- Existing relationships in QSR, insurance, telecommunications, pharma/healthcare, or CPG.
- Track record of opening new categories or verticals from zero, not just inheriting an existing book of business.
- Genuine curiosity about motorsport and the high-performance automotive world, with an affinity for the culture.
Schedule
This is a hybrid position, working 3-4 days from the office.
